Another New Review

Here's another new review about our latest EP "Last", this time from Away From Life. Thank you!

"„Last“ enthält vier Songs, die sich musikalisch irgendwo zwischen Post-Hardcore und Metal einordnen. Abest klingen also ziemlich finster und böse. Riesen Lob an die Verantwortlichen für den Mix und das Mastering; die Produktion könnte passender zum Sound kaum sein! Erinnert ein wenig an Oathbreaker oder die Würzburger Bait, mit denen die Band ja schon das eine oder andere Mal gemeinsam unterwegs war.

Nachdem die knapp 20 Minuten Spielzeit vergangen sind, ist man jedenfalls erstmal gewaltig auf Endzeitstimmung gebürstet. Sehr interessante Band, bei der Freunde von oben genannten Genres und Bands dringend einmal reingehört werden sollten. Zu erwähnen ist außerdem das großartige Cover-Motiv der Platte!"

 "Abest weaves a fair amount of atmosphere into their music as well which creates dark and abysmal tones as well. So, no matter where you decide to turn you cannot escape from the bulldozer that is Abest. Last tends to want to steamroll you into oblivion and the more you listen the more likely that may happen, but more than anything this release gets you headbanging violently."

Shows in October

We will play two shows in October together with our mates in FARSON.

21st of October - Cairo, Würzburg

22nd of October - Juzi, Göttingen

The first one will take place in Würzburg on October 21st. The line-up is pretty sick, so be sure to mark this date in your calenders and tell your friends about it. It's definitely worth a travel!

On October 22nd we will play a very special show at the Juzi in Göttingen. Not only it will be a soli show for Our House #OM10 (it's a squat in our hometown), we will also share the stage with some of the coolest bands from our hood: Farson, Te:rs, Sorbet, Deutsche Laichen, Schwache Nerven and Herculines. We know, that are seven bands in total, but the show will start very early. Also there will be a vegan BBQ, so you will surely survive all the hours of loud music.

"The Germans display their influences of hardcore and sludge metal to build an atmosphere of anguish and unsettling nature. The only problem with this release is that it's too short. You sort of get a bittersweet taste in your mouth afterwards, wanting more."

"Vor ziemlich genau zwei Jahren packten die deutschen Nachbarn Abest erstmals den finsteren Dampfhammer aus. Irgendwo zwischen Amenra und Red Apollo vermengte „Asylum“ finsteren Post-Hardcore/-Metal mit schwarzmetallischen Klängen und ranzigen Krusten. Nun schickt das Quintett die EP „Last“ hinterher – in Eigenregie aufgenommen, in den USA von dem für seine Arbeit mit Oathbreaker bekannten Brad Boatright gemastert.

Zwanzig verdammt starke, kurzweilige Minuten nehmen den Faden von „Asylum“ auf und spinnen ihn gewohnt wütend und brachialromantisch weiter. Abest machen auf ihrer EP „Last“ alles richtig und beweisen eindrucksvoll, dass Düsternis, Schmerz und kreatives Feingefühl durchaus zusammenpassen können. Die Zukunft ist rosig, wobei besagte Rosen im Fall von Abest vermutlich schnell zu Staub zerfallen und sich somit dem musikalischen Gesamteindruck anpassen dürften."

Droneburg & Droneberg 2016

We are very stoked to announce that we will play both, the Droneburg Festival in Hamburg and the Droneberg Festival in Berlin on April 8th and 9th alongside with a terrific line-up containing Downfall of Gaia, Buried at Sea and Mountain Witch.
